"There are many reasons to love the outdoors and you don't have to be a hunter to appreciate what mother nature has to offer. Although hunting in particular is something that can be traced back to the very beginning of our existence, it is a tradition that is slowly fading away. But, with people like Amanda Lynn Mayhew around, we can ensure our hunting heritage isn't lost or forgotten. It is extremely important to advocate and spread awareness to uneducated individuals and especially youth/kids. For me, being in the woods is the ultimate experience. From an early age I have always been drawn to the "wooded realm", as I like to call it. From beginning my survival trips at just 16 years of age and going into the forest alone with just a simple pocket knife and little knowledge to an avid outdoorsman who now travels for weeks at a time in remote locations and alone while hunting predators including wolves and black bear, it is always a humbling experience. There is always something to learn in the forest, on the trail or in the fields and marshes. Each day brings new experiences and tests your limits and that is something I'd love to share with many other like-minded individuals! Amanda Lynn Mayhew was gracious enough to invite me on a Moose Hunt in 2022 and I couldn't have felt like I was in a better hunting family, so to speak. Her and the Just Hunt Crew have all welcomed me with open arms and I will always be appreciative of my experiences with everyone involved with Just Hunt and That Hunting Girl, Amanda Lynn Mayhew. Her drive and attitude and message that she puts across through social media platforms, video and her stories, expertise and strong determination are what inspire thousands around the country and the world! She's a voice for young girls, even boys and full grown men like myself. "To me hunting season is better than Christmas. Over these past few years hunting has taught me so many things especially to be patient and grateful for the opportunities I get. Skipping school to accompany my dad on hunting and fishing trips quickly turned into every moment of free time being spent in the wilderness. Lukas Storer, 14 year old from Elmira, Ontario has been in the woods and through the mud and duck swamps from a very young age. He learned from his Grandfather about fishing and hunting from his father. Lukas' passion is waterfowl and turkeys. You will always find him opening day chest deep in the flooded timber at the family farm waiting for the perfect shot on his favorite duck the Woody. Scouting weeks before turkey opener planning the best spot to put up the blind hoping to cut off the turkeys before they make it to the field. Lukas' passion is also in teaching other kids about hunting and fishing and that they can do it also. You don't need all the fancy gear that a worm and a bobber will do. Lukas has been active in the community and volunteering his time and knowledge working at the sportsman/outdoors show and other kid events like Youth Outdoors day at Luther Marsh. For the last two years Lukas has been introduced to the Deer camp life coming up with Dad, learning the ways of the woods and chasing deer. In early 2025 Lukas was chosen as the Ontario Federation Angler and Hunter Television show Apprentice X3 and did his first ever Pheasant hunt that was recorded for TV. He has never looked back. Lukas started his own YouTube page in 2017 showing kids and adults his outdoor adventures from making a worm farm to tying his own worm harnesses that he has made a little side business selling them on facebook MP and to friends and family. In the winter he plays rep hockey for the Woolwich wildcats as a defenseman. In the Summer he plays Rep ball for the Elmira heat. This past year he got his umpire card and his referring certificate and has enjoyed those roles. In the words of his grandfather it's not about the fish that you catch, it's about the time spent doing what you love and being with the people you love.
